FlatFrog announces the grant of further patents that protects low contact detection (CDH) technology for IR screens and passive pressure detection

Lund, Sweden – Sept 18, 2024

USPTO has issued notice of allowance on new application with a focus on achieving low CDH for interactive displays. In addition, both USPTO and European patent office granted patents protecting passive pressure detection technology from FlatFrog.

New patent granted – Low contact detection height

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a notice of allowance for a new application, US18/103561, focusing on achieving low CDH for interactive displays.

New patents granted – Passive pressure detection

A patent has also been granted in the United States (US12/056316), and a European patent (EP4066089B1) will soon be published, protecting FlatFrog’s innovative touch system that uniquely detects pressure during touch interactions. Unlike other systems that require expensive, complex active pens to measure pressure, FlatFrog's technology allows users to sense pressure with any object, including fingers or passive styluses, enabling a more natural and intuitive touch experience.

This breakthrough technology works by analyzing changes in light reflection when the touch surface bends under pressure, accurately measuring both the location and the force applied. The system’s ability to detect varying pressure levels—without the need for specialized tools—offers a cost-effective and versatile solution for applications such as digital writing, drawing, and brush input.
